Nominees:
Barney's Version, Adrian Morot
The Way Back, Edouard F. Henriques, Greg Funk and Yolanda Toussieng
The Wolfman, Rick Baker and Dave Elsey (WINNER)
Well, raffish Barney Panofsky (Paul Giamatti) does manage to age 30-plus years, from early adulthood to end of life, without the spirit gum showing. And the faces of those escapees from The Way Back's gulag do fester appropriately as they trudge through bleakest Siberia. But the sure bet is The Wolfman, with six-time winner and 12-time nominee Baker in charge. The legendary showman of stickum has created apes (Greystoke, Harry and the Hendersons, Mighty Joe Young), vampires (Ed Wood), all manner of Eddie Murphys (Coming to America, The Nutty Professor, Life, Norbit) and a Jim Carrey meanie (How the Grinch Stole Christmas). And 29 years ago he won his first Oscar for another lycanthropic transformation in An American Werewolf in London. Baker will get to howl again, in pleasure and pride, Sunday night.
