Location: Himachal Pradesh, India
As Bilbo embarks on an adventure in the company of the wizard Gandalf and a host of dwarves, he walks through a hilly wooded expanse marked by ravines and moors. These are the Trollshaws, which are pretty, yes, but also stalked at night by giant, man-eating trolls. Bilbo outwits them and leaves the creatures in a befuddled mess.
The Indian state of Himachal Pradesh is one of the country's most scenic. Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, it's famed for its old colonial hill stations and ancient pilgrimage sites. The closest thing to confused trolls in these parts would be the many western backpackers who arrive on a decades-old hippie trail. They often find themselves lost in what Bilbo would possibly dub the stupors of the Shire leaf.
