Carting speakers around campus isn't easy if it's possible at all. That's why Chicago-based OrigAudio created a speaker so portable, it's fully collapsible. Named as one of TIME's 50 Best Inventions of 2009, the 1-watt speakers are assembled from heavy-stock recycled paper. The battery-free speakers lay flat for travel and then fold into a 7.6-cm cube, which connects to and draws power from any audio device with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Customers are able choose between varying designs or can even design their own. A percentage of each purchase is donated to the Music National Service, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing music to underfunded schools, hospitals and low-income communities.
