For decades, the Haunted House Restaurant has been a legendary institution in Oklahoma City, a place for good steak, potatoes and ghost stories. In 1963, a retired businessman, who lived on the estate that would become the restaurant, was found murdered. He had been shot in the back of the head with .22-caliber rifle. Then after his ex-wife died, his stepdaughter apparently committed suicide shortly after a jury had found her innocent of murder. This would be enough fodder for frightening tales, but in 2008, a group of Oklahoma City-based paranormal investigators documented three instances of electronic voice phenomenon (EVP), including a recording of someone or something whispering, "Bad." And given the restaurant's culinary reputation, the voice couldn't have been talking about their shrimp scampi.
