Ukraine's Ruslana with "Wild Dances" (2004)
If Xena the Warrior Princess ever led an aerobics class, it might look something like this. Ukrainian pop star Ruslana brought together Carpathian mountain dancing, whips and a whole lot of fur and set a new standard for Eurovision performances. She's often credited with sparking the trend of up-tempo ethnic dance numbers that has dominated the contest in recent years. Ruslana stormed to victory and her album went on to top the charts in Belgium, Greece and Ukraine, where it was the first album to ever be certified five-time platinum.
