In the 1935 classic The Wizard of Oz, the Cowardly Lion ... Well, it's all there in the name, isn't it? After all, he's a lion the king of the jungle yet is easily spooked. He sadly mopes that he could do anything "if [he] only had the nerve." Dorothy and the gang take him to see the Wizard to get some courage. He discovers it was inside of him all along. Still, totally wimpy.
