As President Obama's top economic adviser, Summers — a former Treasury secretary and Harvard University president — has been incredibly influential in the Administration's response to the financial crisis and recession. The often controversial figure plays a key role in efforts to create jobs, avoid another housing downturn and figure out how financial institutions should be regulated going forward.
