Formed in 1981, supergroup Asia consisted of bassist and vocalist John Wetton (King Crimson), drummer Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake & Palmer), keyboardist Geoff Downes (the Buggles) and guitarist Steve Howe (Yes). In 1982, the quartet put out their self-titled debut album, which resulted in several hit songs, including "Heat of the Moment," "Only Time Will Tell" and "Sole Survivor." Asia became one of the most played acts on MTV that year. Wetton briefly left the band in 1984, and Howe soon followed. Over the years, the band regrouped several times with new members, though the original four announced that they will release a new album, Omega, in May 2010.
