These necklaces are made with rolled-paper-and-resin beads by women in Uganda in the Bead for Life program. The women trade the strands they make for cash, education, medicine and supplies and, at the end of the program, a grant to set them up in a small business. But you don't have to know any of that to enjoy the necklaces, which look less worthy than groovy. Bonus points for figuring out if yours was originally a magazine, a cereal box or a calendar.
