Ernie's classic ode to bath-time toys, written by Jeff Moss, debuted in a February 1970 episode and garnered fame well beyond Sesame Street. The catchy tune reached No. 16 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart and nearly won a Grammy, earning a 1971 nomination for Best Recording for Children. (It lost out to The Sesame Street Book & Record, which itself contained the song.) The song's popularity had legs too: seven years later, a disco version of the song was included on the album Sesame Street Fever. We're guessing someone might like to have that decision back.
