A Steady Rain (Sept. 29);
Hamlet (Oct. 6)
A Steady Rain, a play by Keith Huff that had its world premiere in Chicago in 2007, concerns two Windy City cops who face a personal crisis while investigating a case of domestic abuse. So whom do you cast when you bring it to Broadway? Why, an Australian heartthrob (Hugh Jackman) and the British actor who plays James Bond (Daniel Craig), naturally. At least Jude Law, another Brit star coming to the New York stage this fall, seems a little more logical as Hamlet, in a new revival of Shakespeare's tragedy. But there's good reason for these casting choices: movie stars sell tickets on Broadway, and these three surely will.
