A good drum corps is the sum of its many moving parts: a strong drum line, well-choreographed color guard and talented horn and percussion sections all must successfully play and march in sync together. Watching the Santa Clara Vanguard's 2004 show "Scheherazade" from a bird's-eye view demonstrates how these parts come together. Straight lines morph fluidly into collapsing boxes, spinning diamonds and sharp triangles. Staying synchronized for a full 10-minute show can be a difficult task; the Santa Clara Vanguard manage to do that and also perform a few sharp visual tricks check out their final move at 7:40.
