Just Be Yourself
I think anonymity online is potentially hugely inflammatory. Trollers, griefers and haters hide behind anonymity. In general, people tend to be more civilized when they have to answer to the consequences of the things they do and say.
Citizen Journalism
In 2004 the Australian embassy was bombed in Jakarta. And there were photos on Flickr before [the news] had reached CNN. This was a remarkable thing. It meant that instead of dispatching a photojournalist to the site, anybody with a camera phone could upload [a picture]. That has only accelerated.
Professionalism Counts
You know you can trust New York Times reporting. You know they're fact checking. You know they're not just printing rumors, because they're being held to higher standards than some dude named SanDiegoRealtor1973. There will always be a need for traditional journalism.
