The Game: Giants announcer Schenkel called the game on NBC with Colts broadcaster Chuck Thompson. After arguing with Thompson about who should handle play-by-play duties in the overtime, they decided to flip a coin, and Thompson won. Unfortunately, film of Schenkel's television call has been lost.
Post-Game: A genial giant of broadcast journalism, Schenkel became ABC's primary Olympics, college football, and NBA announcer. Called Nadia Comaneci's perfect 10 for ABC at the 1976 Olympics, and may be best remembered as the voice of the network's bowling coverage for over 30 years. He died in 2005, at the age of 82.
