Kudos to Joel McHale of E!'s The Soup for turning another program's technical glitch into a running gag for the ages. When Fox's Morning Show with Mike & Juliet inexplicably cut to footage of a black cat sitting in a high-chair in front of a plate of spaghetti, McHale didn't even have to write a joke. What made the incident even more hilarious (or perhaps disturbing) is the interview the "Spaghetti Cat" interrupted — the confessions of a female binge-drinker on"chilling for a while" before driving drunk. McHale later introduced a puppet version of Spaghetti Cat that would randomly sidle up next to him during his monologue, turning the feline into an Internet meme, a t-shirt and a DIY Halloween costume. Fox later claimed the image was a censor test. Producers at Mike & Juliet even rolled out their own expose in an attempt to reclaim Spaghetti Cat. It didn't work.
