Frank Sinatra changed the lyrics of his 1959 hit single for the 1960 Democratic candidate, expressing the emotional essence of Kennedy's campaign, and the optimism of a new decade and a new political generation. Sammy Cahn, the Broadway lyricist who wrote both the original song and the Kennedy version, altered another one of his Sinatra-sung hits My Kind of Town (Chicago is) for Michael Dukakis' 1988 campaign as My Kind of Guy (Dukakis Is).
