Although Detroit is best-known for the Motown sound, it's also home to what's billed as the "world's oldest jazz club," Baker's Keyboard Lounge. The 74-year-old club has seen most every American jazz great grace its stage, including Cab Calloway, Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald and Chick Corea. The original owner sold the place in the 1990s, but Baker's still hosts live music and retains its swinging atmosphere. 20510 Livernois Ave., Detroit; 313-345-6300
