Date: June 19 to September 16
Artists: Cézanne, Picasso, Bonnard, Vuillard and more
Venue: Musée D'Orsay, Paris
"The most beautiful woman who ever lived," Picasso once said, "never had her portrait painted, drawn, or engraved more often than Vollard." But what beautiful woman could turn art into money like the indispensable Paris art dealer Ambroise Vollard (1866-1939)? For more than half a century he was the man at the center of the frenzy of the art world. He gave Cézanne his first one man show, brought early exposure to Bonnard and Vuillard, supported Derain and Rouault. This exhibition assembles scores of works by the artists he represented.
