Democrat: Chris Carney (Incumbent)
Republican: Chris Hackett (Business owner)
Carney won the 10th district seat in 2006 after then-GOP Rep. Don Sherwood was disgraced by revelations of a messy extramarital affair. The 2008 election will be the first real test of Carney's strength in the overwhelmingly red northeastern district, particularly with a national spotlight on the race and no steamy scandal to distract voters. The freshman Democrat received good marks on his first term for his moderate voting record on fiscal and social issues, but will be up against Hackett, a well-liked Republican with endorsements from conservative groups such as the Pennsylvania Eagle Forum and the Concerned Women Political Action Committee.
