Everyday, Daily Kos reports "The State of The Nation," at least that part of the nation that considers itself to be either liberal or a Democrat. Founded in 2002 by Markos Moulitsas (from whose first name lends the blog its title), Daily Kos has grown virally into the uberblog of online liberalism and get-out-the-vote activism. Think of it as the voice of the ordinary person on the street as filtered through the Democratic National Committee. The user-generated content is the real mother lode on the blog; there are discussion boards and group blogs for activists looking to support particular causes and candidates. There's also a useful wiki-style political encyclopedia, plus contact info to get involved. If you're the sort of person who thinks George Bush: bad. Hillary Clinton: better. Barack Obama: best. Ron Paul: still worth considering, in an odd way this is the place to go.
Sample Daily Kos Post: It sickens the heart, the carnage that George W. Bush unleashed upon both our countries. No death is insignificant. The deaths of these four souls are just as lamentable as all those that have preceded, and all those that will surely follow while American forces remain in the midst of this civil war. When will the President apologize for what he has wrought?
