As chairman of this House oversight committee back in 2005, Davis, an outgoing Republican from Virginia, called the hearings that embarrassed Mark McGwire ("I'm not here to talk about the past"), Sammy Sosa, Bud Selig, and the Major League players union, ultimately forcing the sport to strengthen its toothless drug policy. Well done. Now, as the ranking Republican, he is supporting Waxman's decision to call these Clemens hearings, which offer more prurient interest than promise of reform. Is this the best use of bipartisanship?
