#10. Going Global
This year, fashion houses opened stores and distributed products to new and farflung locales as the luxury market continued to expand internationally. Giorgio Armani opened his first store in Tokyo. Huge spectacles were held to herald the arrival of brands in places such as Tretyakovsky Passage in Moscow, where Ralph Lauren celebrated the opening of his first store. Bulgari also opened a store in Tokyo, which is now its largest store in the world. But, of course, it was Karl Lagerfeld who outshone all he presented a runway show for Fendi atop the Great Wall of China. Karl came, Karl saw, Karl conquered.
