Twin Peaks was a made-for-DVD series before DVDs existed: novel-like, mythic
and mysterious, it could have benefited from the rewind-and-review
possibilities that made Lost DVDs best-sellers and allowed that show's fans
to reach new heights of obsessiveness. Better late than never; this set
collects all 29 episodes plus two versions of the pilot (the American and
the one that aired overseas). A tenth disc packed with extras includes a
sit-down with co-creators David Lynch and Mark Frost and actress Madchen
Amick; an interactive Twin Peaks map; and a four-part making-of documentary,
including a look at the music that helped make the series unshakably
haunting.
