What would be your signature as First Lady?
I think that it is very early to decide that. My decision would depend a lot on what was happening in our country at the time. There may be a specific need that I could address and bring attention to, so who really knows. But if you asked me today, this minute, I would continue my work to eliminate substandard housing, through Habitat for Humanity and would strongly encourage personal preparedness for disasters through the American Red Cross.
Who is your first lady role model?
This is a very tough question for several reasons. The first being that there have been some great first ladies and second, I don't know all about them. I loved the fact that Martha Washington truly loved her new country. I too love this great country and wish that there could be an attitude adjustment about it. Too many people forget why we came here in the first place. Martha also had a great appreciation for the veterans. Who can say enough about our men and women in uniform. They are the greatest. I wish to keep the elegance in the White House as did Jackie Kennedy and Nancy Reagan. The boldness of Dolly Madison, Mary Todd Lincoln and so many first ladies, but the meekness of Laura Bush. I guess if you looked hard enough all first ladies could be a role model for you in one way or another. It is a very unique club.
What don't we know about your spouse?
He is a machine and I mean that in a good way. No one can outlast, outwork or be more determined and focused than Mike Huckabee.
What do you like most about the campaign trail?
Without a doubt it is the people and the places. You can learn so much from visiting other places and learn even more from visiting with other people. It is great to get out and see the uniqueness of this country.
What do you like least?
Not being able to be with my family, my friends and my dogs enough.
Would you expect to have a say in the President's policies?
No, but I would expect to have a discussion with my husband on what he is doing as a president.
What is the one TV show that you and your spouse try not to miss?
My husband rarely watches TV, but we like to watch the Razorback football games and any program that we have recorded about him.
What is the one campaign food that you could go your whole life never eating again?
There isn't anything that I really would never eat again from the campaign trail. I have found that every area has something different to offer and it is all good. I now only need to eat in moderation.
