March 17, 2008
"I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."
Clinton, recalling her 1996 trip to Tuzla, Bosnia in a Washington, D.C. speech while seeking to bolster her national security credentials. A few days later the media found her account was exaggerated -- news footage showed her and Chelsea greeting U.S. troops on the tarmac, and an 8-year-old Bosnia girl reading the first lady a poem. A week later Clinton acknowledged she "misspoke," calling it a "minor blip."
