So anxious to be welcomed as the only governor in the field and win points for his boffo resume that he seemed to forget he had to earn it on stage. As in the first debate, Richardson sometimes looked confused and failed to respond directly (if at all) to the questions tossed his way. His occasional Lieberman-ian attempts to be the centrist in the race were so tentative that if you yawned (and you might have) you probably missed them.
