Comedian-TV personality Rosie O'Donnell may have been belittling the actor Danny DeVito's earlier drunken appearance on The View, the daytime talk show she co-hosts, but the mock Chinese she used did not tickle many Asian-Americans. The incident became international news, with Asian groups chastising her for using the nonsensical and cartoonish "ching chong" used through the decades to make fun of East Asian immigrants. On the air, Rosie gave a pseudo-apology, saying she was sorry for "those people who felt hurt or teased on the playground..." but she added "There's a good chance I'll do something like that again... only 'cause it's how my brain works." On her blog, below, she struck a more contrite note.
