If you can't get enough of Jacob Jensen's timepieces, jewelry and eyewear, then the famous Danish designer himself will come to your door—figuratively speaking. His cordless doorbell, which recently won a Plus X Award (the top European prize for gadget design), features a range of tones, among them a recording of Jensen knocking on a wooden door. Apparently the great man wasn't too enthusiastic about the idea, but relented after speaking to his son, Timothy Jacob Jensen. "He did find that it was a bit foolish going all the way to a studio just to record his knock, and asked if it really mattered who was knocking on the door," says Jensen Jr., who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the design business that bears the family name. "I answered that it is never unimportant who is knocking on the door—and I think the future owners of the doorbell will agree." Design fans will, at any rate. Others may find that a designer knock sounds just like, well, any other. But hear for yourself, and find out more about the product, at
