Let the (High-Definition) Games Begin
Microsoft's Xbox 360 has the advantage of having already shipped, but Sony's competing game console may be worth the wait. Due out in May, the PS3 is supposed to have better graphics and will support up to seven wireless game pads (Xbox 360 allows four). PS3's best advantage: it will play high-definition Blu-ray DVDs. But at an expected retail price of $400 to $500, it won't come cheap.

TRAVEL
The Dalmatian Coast
This year skip the French and Italian Riviera and head for Croatia's Dalmatian Coast, where mountains meet the shimmering Adriatic Sea. The region is still relatively undiscovered, which means unspoiled beaches and affordable prices even in the medieval walled city of Dubrovnik.
Berlin and Munich
For football fans, Germany is the place to be in June and July when the country hosts the World Cup for the first time as a reunified nation. The opening game will be played in Munich's new Allianz Arena, the final will be in Berlin's Olympic Stadium, and the rest of the games will be spread throughout the country. DRINK
Pour it On
Look for the "craft cocktail" at a bar near you as mixologists incorporate fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and spice infusions into their creations. Basil martini, anyone?
