Asurah
Shi'a Muslims celebrate Asurah in Kabul. The festival commemorates the day Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the prophet Muhammad, was martyred along with his family members and friends in the Battle of Karbala. Many Shi'ites whip themselves with knives on chains.
