Astronaut Robert Curbeam on the first of three spacewalks the Discovery crew made during a December 2006 mission to continue building the International Space Station. Curbeam and fellow spacewalker Christer Fluglesang put in a full day's work: the spacewalk ran 6 hrs. and 36 min., not counting the time-consuming business of getting into and out of their bulky pressure suits.
