Around 3,700 post offices, like this one in Millington, Illinois (pop. 665), are slated to close due to the dire financial problems facing the U.S. Postal Service. But there are probably many more closings on the way. The nation’s postmaster general has said that the U.S.P.S. will probably consider shuttering 15,000 post offices around the country.
