"What the British did there was nothing short of genocide," the late designer said of England's history of incursions into Scotland (specifically the bloody eighteenthcentury Battle of Culloden). McQueen, who was of Scottish descent, referred to that "rape" in this collection, which sent bloody, bruised and seminaked models down the runway in ripped clothes.
