Burmese Ruby Tiara (Britain)
The Burmese believe that rubies protect their owner from evil and poor health, so it was more than a bit flattering when the people of Burma sent Queen Elizabeth a set of rubies as a wedding present in 1947. In 1973, the Queen commissioned a new tiara from Garrard's and insisted that they utilize her Burmese rubies. Designers created a wreath of red roses, forming the center of each flower with rubies and diamonds and their petals with silver.
