An Englishman in New York
Sir Peter Shaffer, Playwright
What a lovely man. He's definitely emblematic of that certain type of Englishman in New York that's remained a professional Englishman, the accent hasn't changed, he still drinks tea and leads an English life. And his apartment on the Upper West Side is fabulous. He didn't want us to leave because we were having such a nice conversation. And of course, when I looked back on this picture, I realized that I'd subconsciously built a stage. It reminded me of going to see plays in London when I was a kid. And the idea of putting the writer on stage just tickled me in some way.
