Justice and Development Party (AKP) took nearly 35 percent of the countries vote, declaring victory. Leader of the Justice and Development Party, a party with Islamic roots, Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated the party will maintain the nation's pro-Western stance, calming any worries that they will undergo a radical shift toward Islam.
