In August 2011, Mubarak was wheeled on a hospital bed into a courtroom cage to face charges of corruption and ordering the killing of protesters during the uprising that ousted him. Beside him the large mesh cage at a courtroom in the police academy were other defendants like his sons Gamal and Alaa, his interior minister and other associates of his regime.
