The Battle for Kasr al-Nile Bridge
Four days after protesters first appeared in the streets, the Cairo demonstrators called for a "Day of Rage". It was a Friday, the holiest day of the Muslim week. When several thousand of their number tried to make their way to Tahrir ("Liberation") Square via the Kasr al-Nile Bridge, they were blocked by a large contingent of heavily armed police.
