Each day, hundreds of brightly-painted water trucks fill up at pumping stations to transport and sell water throughout the city. Though water mains run through most districts, the flow has been turned off or brokenforcing Karachi's poor to pay for their only access to clean water. Distribution is controlled by the paramilitary Pakistan Rangers
