Ahead of the 2006 World Cup, the Germans either built or revamped many of their stadiums. The 66,000-seater Allianz Arena in Munich was arguably the jewel in the crown — its bubble-shaped exterior pieced together with translucent plastic panels that allow the facade of the stadium to literally change colors depending on the occasion of the day.
