The rebirth of the Lingotto plant has helped revitalized Torino's fortunes. By investing in new sectors like food and tourism, the city has emerged as one of the most dynamic in Italy. Delegations from other hard-hit cities like Cleveland and Detroit have come to the Piedmontese capital to learn how they might learn from the city's experience. "Torino is a city that had a plan to come back," says Detroit Mayor Dave Bing, a man who knows a thing or two about declining auto towns. "It's good to see we're not in this by ourselves."
