Stewart and Colbert: Their Biggest Moments

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert: the Voices of Reason and Truthiness

Stewart vs. Crossfire
In October 2004, Stewart appeared as a guest on CNN's debate show Crossfire and voiced his concerns for the program. "It's not so much that it's bad as it's hurting America ... stop hurting America," Stewart said in reference to the "partisan hackery" that he criticized Crossfire for perpetuating. With Stewart commandeering the live broadcast with increasingly critical comments, Tucker Carlson, the show's conservative host, said, "I thought you were going to be funny. Come on, be funny." "No, I'm not going to be your monkey," responded Stewart. In January 2005, CNN canceled Crossfire in part because of Stewart's on-air criticisms of the show.
