"There were moments during the campaign when I couldn't see Obama. I just saw a man, surrounded by police and security, hundreds of cameras and TV crews, thousands of people, and those moments could feel claustrophobic and fearful as well as historic. At the inauguration his daughters were taking photos of him. At the staff ball, all the staff were taking photos of him, and from his point of the view his experience must be constantly looking into a sea of one-eyed cyclopses."
