The Dacia, the Romanian Car That Could

Steeped in History
The car appears often in Romanian culture and legend. One famous story tells of a Dacia owner who faked a breakdown of his car when it was confiscated by Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife as they attempted to flee in December 1989, their regime collapsing around them. The hated dictator and his wife were captured and executed shortly thereafter.
