Numerous benefits and tributes have honored Sondheim as he enters his eighth decade. Lincoln Center in New York presented "Sondheim: The Birthday Concert" while the New York City Center staged a benefit featuring about twenty principal performers from the composer's shows, including Nathan Lane, Angela Lansbury, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Len Cariou.
