The rainy season in Apac leads to an increase in malaria cases. Originally from West Africa, the disease by the mid-19th century had spread to half of mankind, killing tens of millions of people, from Alexander the Great to Lord Byron, and infecting hundreds of millions more, including eight American Presidents.
