Moss's struggles to return to civilian life have coincided with a series of domestic difficulties. She is a divorced single mother, echoing a national trend: female soldiers are three times as likely to be divorced as their male counterparts and more likely to be single parents. She has also faced financial troubles; since losing her home to foreclosure in 2006, she has shuttled with her children from apartments to hotels.
