Ultimately, the idea to record everything in one take fell through, as did the idea to play a live show at a London club. Still, the Beatles needed a way to create a finale for the film Lindsay-Hogg had been asked to make, so they hit upon the idea of performing on the roof of the headquarters of their newly formed company Apple. Though it was a frigid day, the band turned in an outstanding performance, reminding everyone why the four had gotten together in the first place.
