Paths That Cross
In the 18 months since this photograph was taken in 2008, the fates of these three users have followed widely divergent paths. S, in the foreground, is still clean after nearly killing himself 18 months ago through blood poisoning. D, center, focused on the contentious task of splitting the contents of a £10 bag of heroin, is now walking with aid of a stick after getting bad leg ulcers from injecting himself. S.T., who was fresh out of prison when the photo was taken (and thus not as tolerant of the drug as he once may have been), collapses after injecting himself in the groin. He has not been seen since.
