The Future Is Fluorescent
The first screw-in compact fluorescent bulb appeared in 1980. Invented in response to the 1973 oil crisis, the new bulb was intended to help households cut down on energy consumption. In the past few years, as concerns over global warming have increased, there have been valiant efforts on the part of governments and eco-advocates to phase out traditional filament bulbs.
